SEO Basics

SEO basics are the foundation for good SEO. If you are trying to rank your website to get more traffic or customers then you must set up the road map (SEO) correctly.

To begin with you must make sure your site is optimized properly with the appropriate URL structure and interlinking architecture. Your website pages should not look like this — http://www.mysite.com/recipes/detail?ID=12345 but should be structured more like this http://www.mysite.com/recipes/chili.

If your site is not structured properly then Google will not be able to find your content as easy as it could.

It even starts with your menu’s on the site.

Each post should have an appropriate title with an h1 tag.

Keywords should be used properly and not just loaded on the page.

The key to good SEO is proper structure, relevant content, relevant links and good social media. I will cover each of these subjects in future posts.

This new strategy is well-conceived and much needed.
